The Road to Miss Delaware 2019 – Danielle Taylor, Miss First State 2019

As we continue our series, "The Road to Miss Delaware 2019," the next contestant to be featured is Danielle Taylor, the reigning Miss First State 2019. Continue reading to learn more about Danielle and her journey to the crown!

What have you learned from your current Miss Delaware, Joanna Wicks,
which you hope to carry with you, regardless of whomever wins the title of Miss Delaware.
Jo has taught me to take a step back and take a breath every once in a while. I feel like as adults we place a lot of extra stress on ourselves whether it’s through work, relationships, or even pageants! sometimes it’s good to step back and appreciate what you have and realize how lucky you are to be alive, healthy, and thriving!

What is one goal you hope that the new Miss Delaware will accomplish
during her reign?
I hope our next Miss Delaware will be able to give back to the community as much as possible and be a good role model for our younger generations. From a very young age my mother always taught me to give back to our community because you never know when you will need the same help.

If you could go back in the past, and give yourself one piece of advice when you first stepped into pageantry, what would it be?
“Stop trying to be perfect” For me pageantry has never been about glitz and glamour but I found myself nitpicking my every move when I first started. After a while, I realized the judges don’t want me to be perfect. They want me to be me. Sometimes you lose or you don’t do as well as you thought you did but it’s not that you did poorly it’s just that you weren’t exactly who/what the judges were looking for in a titleholder. The most important thing is to be comfortable in yourself, your passion, and performance and everything will happen as it is supposed to.

Share with us your platform and why it’s important to you.
My Platform is an anti-bullying advocacy program called “The Crown C.A.R.E.S” the acronym stands for “Creating A Respectful Environment in Schools”. I chose this platform because I have witnessed too many of my friends get hurt by bullying and have also been hurt very deeply by bullies. I am determined to find a way to improve the confidence of those who have been faced with adversity and have had to endure mistreatment from others for just being their true selves. I am starting a movement that dares people to be more accepting of diversity in our communities! Diversity is what makes our country so remarkable and by accepting people for who they are we are creating an environment of that promotes creativity, differences, and acceptance.

“Bravura” is an artistic word for exceptional; what makes you a ‘bravura’ candidate for Miss Delaware?
I am a bravura candidate because I am not only confident in myself, but I am also supportive of the people around me. I have always made it my mission to build up the individuals around me because I believe everyone can achieve greatness and sometimes it takes one person say “you got this” or “you’re doing amazing, keep going!”. Whether you are at your highest high or your lowest low I will always make time for the people who need and want it. I truly believe that any of the 12 candidate could take home this crown. I feel so lucky to be a part of such a well educated, passionate, and beautiful group of ladies and I cannot wait to see who takes home the crown!
