What have you learned from your current Miss Delaware, Joanna Wicks, which you hope to carry with you, regardless of whomever wins the title of Miss Delaware.
Organization is key. Being Miss Delaware is quite a huge job, and I learned so much from Joanna about staying organized and prepared to tackle all the obstacles thrown your way as Miss Delaware! She does so much work, always with a smile on her face. I am in awe of her!

What is one goal you hope that the new Miss Delaware will accomplish during her reign?
Expand the charity/appearance connections for the Miss Delaware Organization. Miss Delaware is an amazing organization, and I think the new Miss Delaware should do everything she can to get the word out about the organization!

If you could go back in the past, and give yourself one piece of advice when you first stepped into pageantry, what would it be?
My advice to women stepping into pageantsave money! Preparing for a state pageant can be quite costly. I have done a lot of work getting sponsors to help with my wardrobe. On a grad student budget, I don’t have much to spend. I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Wilmington Country Store and Ellie Boutique in Greenville, DE for sponsoring my competition wardrobe! To anyone competing in pageant, be on the look out for sponsors and people to borrow clothes from! It can save you a great deal of money.

Share with us your platform and why it’s important to you.
My platform is Celebrating Women in Science. I am a PhD student in engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. I got where I am today because as a young girl in Delaware, I went to many local outreach events encouraging young girls in STEM. It is my mission to pay it forward and give back to the community that has given me so much.

“Bravura” is an artistic word for exceptional; what makes you a ‘bravura’ candidate for Miss Delaware?
My dedication to my platform makes me a “bravura” candidate for Miss Delaware. Celebrating Women in Science is something that I do every minute of every day. I volunteer with science outreach on a weekly basis, and I even have experience taking my platform to a national level, as I am one of the national K-12 Outreach Coordinators for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
