What is your platform and what are you doing to bring awareness towards it? How do you hope to use the title of MAOTeen to bring awareness on a national level if you were to win the title?
My platform is spreading the Joy of Music. Growing up, I’ve been surrounded by music; I’ve played the violin and piano since I was five years old. With that, I’ve grown up playing in nursing homes and hospital settings, using music to heal others. My platform is truly a passion for me, and I’ve personally watched music heal the soul. I also use my platform for music education. I teach four students a week, and I volunteer teach at the Joy of Music School. This is a school where children who can’t afford lessons receive free music, lessons and instruments. As Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, I hope to do a CMN Hospital tour across the states and spark music back to life in our nation.

What have you learned from your current MAOTeen, Nicole Jia, which you hope to incorporate as a title-holder?
I personally believe that being “kind” will take you farther than you realize. With #BeSelfless as Nicole’s platform, I’ve learned the importance of putting myself before others.

What motivated you to be a part of the MAO, and how did you to work towards winning your state title?
The service part of the MAO crown has always been my motivation. I’ve always had a drive and passion for using my talents to bless someone else. As for winning my state title, I just never gave up! And on my third try, I finally reached my goal. Looks like third time was definitely a charm for me!

Tell us three fun facts about you!
I’m related to Robert E. Lee, I can’t wink or whistle, and my last name is often mispronounced as “astronaut”!
