The Road to Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen 2018 – Miss Cumberland Valley’s Outstanding Teen 2018

The MAOTeen PA pageant might not be taking place until June, but the girls who are vying for the title are getting ready! One such contestant is 17-year-old Jordan Fritsch. Continue reading to learn all about Jordan and her journey to the crown!

For those who may not be familiar with you, tell our readers a bit about yourself and your background within the pageant world.
My name is Jordan Fritsch, I am 17 years old and am a junior at Lancaster Catholic High School. I have been competing in pageants since I was eight years old and this is my fourth year with the Miss America Organization. My mom competed in both Miss Ocean City and the Miss New Jersey Scholarship Organization which is the origin of my family’s pageant involvement in the pageant world. I am honored to represent the Cumberland Valley area as Miss Cumberland Valley’s Outstanding Teen and have the opportunity to promote my platform Tap Into Volunteering.

The four points of the Miss America crown represent: service, scholarship, style, and success. Which one is the most important to you and why?
Of the four points of the Miss America crown, the one that is most important to me is service. This is the point that separates the Miss America Organization from the other pageant systems. This point allows me to have platform for an issue that I hold close to my heart. With this organization, I am capable of spreading my message that no matter how big or how small your involvement in your community is, you are always making a difference. The point of service gives young women like me a voice.

During Madison Dompkosky’s reign, what is one characteristic you’ve seen her bring forth as Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen, and which do you hope to emulate if you were to win the title?
Madison’s passion for her platform “Thank A Veteran” is truly inspiring. Her dedication to spreading her message and taking every chance to promote how important this is what I hope to emulate if I became Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen.

What have you learned from our current Miss Pennsylvania, Katie Shreckengast, that can help you be a better outstanding teen?
Katie has not only taught me how much hard work pays off but also that staying true to yourself is the key to success. Katie is one of the most genuine people I know and this is the quality I feel is most important when being an outstanding teen. She is able to connect with everyone she meets and is able to make everyone feel special. These qualities that Katie hold are what I feel are the most important a title holder should have and I have learned them through her.

Please share with our readers your platform and why you’ve chosen to advocate for it.
My platform is titled Tap Into Volunteering. I began volunteering at a young age in my grade school which is where I first found my love for it. When I first entered the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization one of the firsts things I needed was a personal platform and I knew volunteering was the perfect choice. I started to notice a need for volunteers, especially in students my age, which is exactly why I decided that this was so important. Not only do I encourage others to get involved in their community and how rewarding it is to give back, but I also want to everyone to understand that no matter how big or how small the project it, it will always make a difference for the better.

If you were to win the title of Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen, how do you hope to better educate your generation about your platform and the importance it holds?
The best way to educate about my platform Tap Into Volunteering is through example. It is one thing to get up and inform my peers and other students my age across the state and tell them how important it is to volunteer, but it is another to actually do it. I want them to have someone to look to when thinking about volunteering and as Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen I want to be that person. I can show them how much fun it is to give back and how rewarding it is when you make a difference in your community.

Tell us about your talent and the decisions you made in proceeding with this talent.
My talent is a tap dance to Barry Manilow’s Dancin’ Fool. I have been tap dancing for as long as I can remember and it has always been my favorite style of dance. So, when it came time to pick a talent, there was nothing else I wanted to do beside tap. And as soon as I heard the song Dancin’ Fool I instantly loved it and knew that this was the song I wanted to dance to.

Having been in pageants and after winning a local title, what advice do you have for those who want to start competing in the MAO system?
I would just tell them to do it! Competing in the MAO system was the best decision I have ever made. Not only has it given me friendships that will last a lifetime but it has also given confidence that I never even thought I could have. I now have the confidence to speak in front of others and have the ability to go into any interview and answer any question thrown at me. This organization has given me skills that I can use for the rest of my life. Anyone who is considering to compete in this organization should not pass up this amazing opportunity.

Because of the way media and certain television networks have portrayed the lifestyle of pageantry, there is a preconceived notion of what a pageant girl is like. How do you think that being a part of the Miss America Organization you are able to break that barrier?
The Miss America Organization empowers young women to achieve their dreams. This organization allows women, no matter their shape or size, to succeed. I am not the “normal” 5’10 size 2 girl you think of when someone talks about being a pageant queen. But because of this organization I don’t have to be. I can be exactly who I am and be the most confident person when I walk onto that pageant stage. This organization does not base their winners solely off of beauty, but also on their intelligence, personality, and commitment to making their community a better place. We are all real women looking to do something amazing. These qualities are what makes the Miss America Organization stand out and hopefully I am able to show every this as a competitor in this organization.

Regardless of who wins the title of Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen, what is one goal which you have for them, which you hope they will accomplish during their reign?
I hope that whoever is given the honor to represent Pennsylvania as Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen has the best year of their life. I hope they are able to promote their platform to their best of their ability across the state. And when their reign comes to an end, I hope they look back and have no regrets about anything in the past year and are completely happy with everything they accomplished.

Bravura is an artistic word for exceptional. Tell our readers what make you “bravura.”
Something that makes me “bravura” is my determination. I have experienced more loses than wins while competing but that hasn’t stopped me. Every lose for me was a learning experience and I was able to compete just as confident as the last pageant. I have learned how important determination is in life and with that I gave been able to achieve anything I set my mind to.

Where can fans follow you on social media?
I am on Instagram as misscumberlandvalleysot, as well as my Facebook page Miss Cumberland Valley’s Outstanding Teen 2018.

Do you have any final words for the readers of Bravura Magazine?
I just want everyone to remember this very important quote: “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I’m possible.”- Audrey Hepburn. This is my favorite quote because if there is anything I have learned while competing in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization is that this is absolutely true. And that anything you set your mind to, remember this quote and you can achieve anything.
