The Road to Miss New Jersey – Miss Atlantic County – Kennedy Stillman-Fath

The Road to Miss New Jersey is never an easy one.

The first time I became close with the Miss New Jersey platform was when I had met Cara McCollum a few years ago. May her soul forever rest in peace. She was a true breath of fresh air, and really changed this ‘preconceived notion’ that people had about pageants and being a ‘pageant-girl.’ She was smart, caring, charismatic, and beyond that, she was down-to-Earth.

Since then Cara has opened my eyes to what being “Miss New Jersey” truly stood for. And since then, not only myself, but the entire team of Bravura Magazine has been STRONG supporters for the Miss New Jersey platform.

Recently we announced some BIG news that we would be partnering up with the Miss New Jersey Education Foundation, and shedding some light on this amazing organization. Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be introducing you to the energetic, young ladies who will be competing for the title of Miss New Jersey.

The first young lady we will be introducing you to is Kennedy Stillman-Fath, who is currently Miss Atlantic County 2016.

Please tell us why you chose to compete for your local county’s title?
I choose to compete for Miss Atlantic County because I loved the idea of representing my home county.

What do you plan to accomplish if you were to win the title of Miss NJ 2016?
I am very passionate about my platform, Youth and Alcohol – A Dangerous Mix. I have spoken at 14 schools throughout South Jersey. Winning the title of Miss New Jersey would create a path for me to grow my platform and reach more students in schools throughout our entire state. I also wish to continue raising funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Share with our readers a bit more about you platform and why you picked this particular one.
Throughout my high school experience I have seen firsthand the detrimental effects alcohol is having on our youth. Many teenage students have an unhealthy obsession with alcohol. Whether they are doing it to climb the social ladder, or as a depressant, seventy five percent of high school students will try alcohol before their senior year in high school. Being a part of the small twenty five percent that does not drink in high school, I knew it was my chance to make a difference.

“Bravura” is an artistic word for exceptional; in your own words, tell us what makes you ‘bravura’!
It has not been easy staying sober during high school. In addition to just staying sober, I have spoken out about my views of underage drinking and have created a platform to reduce the amount of teens who decide to drink while in middle school and high school.
