For those who may not be familiar with you, tell our readers a bit about yourself and your background within the pageant world.
Hello everyone! I am Brooke Piscotty, Miss Greater Juniata Valley’s Outstanding Teen 2018. I am 13 years old and a seventh grader at Hanover Area Jr/Sr High School. This is my first local title in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization. I’m very glad I became a part of this organization. This organization is giving me a chance to spread awareness about Down Syndrome through my personal platform “Be a Buddy to Special Friends”. My platform is near and dear to my heart and I hope to make others aware of how special people with Down Syndrome truly are!

The four points of the Miss America crown represent: service, scholarship, style, and success. Which one is the most important to you and why?
Although every point of the crown is important, the most important point to me is scholarship. Scholarship is what represents this organization all together. Scholarships are what make this organization stand out from all other pageant organizations. The scholarships offered in this organization allow young women across America the chance to go to college. These scholarships offered through the Miss America and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen are what enable changes the lives of the young women competing.


During Madison Dompkosky’s reign, what is one characteristic you’ve seen her bring forth as Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen, and which do you hope to emulate if you were to win the title?
Madison has possessed dedication throughout her reign. I admire this trait the most about Maddy because she is dedicated to everything, especially her platform, “Thank a Veteran”. Maddy puts her heart and soul into her platform because of how dedicated she is. I hope to emulate that trait as much as she has throughout her year of service.

What have you learned from our current Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen, Madison that can help you be a better outstanding teen?
Madison has always been a truly outstanding teen. She is a role model who has allowed me to follow in her footsteps to become a better teen. She has confidence in herself and sets a good example of what being an outstanding teen truly is. She has taught me so much!

Please share with our readers your platform and why you’ve chosen to advocate for it.
My platform is “Be a Buddy to Special Friends”. My platform allows me to spread awareness about Down Syndrome and how special those with Down Syndrome truly are. The reason I chose this platform is I would like to remove the negative social attitudes that surround these individuals. Those with Down Syndrome certainly cannot change themselves and most of the time are not aware of negative social attitude happening around them. Also, a lot of Down Syndrome families aren’t aware there are support groups in their counties. I would like to spread awareness to these families they are not alone. To spread awareness, I became a representative of the Luzerne County Down Syndrome Network (LCDSN) within my home county.


If you were to win the title of Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen, how do you hope to better educate your generation about your platform and the importance it holds?
I would hope to help educate others about Down Syndrome by hosting events, talking at schools, through social media and any other way possible to help spread a “golden glow” in the presence of those with Down Syndrome. Holding the title, Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen, the community would become more interested and aware that those with Down Syndrome are important too. I hope everyone would understand my message and follow in my footsteps.

Tell us about your talent and the decisions you made in proceeding with this talent.
I have been dancing since the age of 3 and my dance studio is my home away from home. With this being said, I chose to do a tap dance as my talent. With the guidance of my teachers Candice Miscavage and Chrissy Howe, I have been working hard to choreograph and perfect the dance. In the end a little surprise was thrown in as well – a decision was made to add an acapella section to my dance. I love being able to show my love for dance and my talent while competing.


Having been in pageants and after winning a local title, what advice do you have for those who want to start competing in the MAO system?
Although this is my first local title in the MAO system, I have been a part of it for a long time! My biggest piece of advice is to really have fun! Having fun is one of the most important things. Since I won my title a few months ago, time has been going so quickly, but I have been making the best of it. To me, that’s all that matters!

Because of the way media and certain television networks have portrayed the lifestyle of pageantry, there is a preconceived notion of what a pageant girl is like. How do you think that being a part of the Miss America Organization you are able to break that barrier?
Being a part of the Miss America Organization will help me break this barrier by showing and sharing how much I have gained from this wonderful organization. I have learned so much about myself through this organization. I have gained self-confidence, life lessons, and learning how to be a true leader. Without this organization, I probably wouldn’t be who I am today.

Regardless of who wins the title of Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen, what is one goal which you have for them, which you hope they will accomplish during their reign?
I hope the new Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen isn’t only a State Titleholder but a National Titleholder as well. I would love to see Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen become the National Titleholder, Miss America’s Outstanding Teen.


Bravura is an artistic word for exceptional. Tell our readers what make you “bravura.”
What makes me “bravura” is my kindness and respect. Having the platform I do, “Be a Buddy to Special Friends,” I believe shows that I am very kind and respectful towards others.
