Please share with our readers your title & platform.
My name is Lyndsey Littlefield. I am the current Miss South Coast 2017. My personal platform is Girls Inc. Girls inc. is a after school program that is focused on providing confidence building opportunities for young women, and assist them in becoming “Strong, Smart, and Bold”.
How long have you competed in pageants? How do you think you’ve personally grown with all your prior pageant experience?
I started in the Teen program of MAO, through this organization, I feel I have grown in confidence and through the opportunities the organization supplies. Never could I imagine myself speaking onstage with a crown on yet here I am! This organization provides a sisterhood that supports you in every endeavor you try. Having this unique support system has helped me become the women I am today. Three years later from my first pageant I am proud to say I am a motorcyclist, dance teacher, Spartan race champion and a dental assistant!
In regards to your platform, why did you choose to go with this particular one?
At the age of thirteen I landed my first professional dance occupation. Through dancing in that company, I witnessed extreme unhealthy lifestyle of athletes determined to fit a specific criteria to become a beautiful dancer. I was fueled in those moments to break society’s pressure on women, not only in dance, but everywhere. After researching various programs, I fell in love with Girls Inc.’s principles that fit perfectly within my mission! Together we are working to eliminate society’s pressure on women and ensure that the are #StrongSmartAndBold!
How has working alongside your platform made you into a stronger person?
Volunteering with Girls Inc. every week, seeing the kids after school, and our amazing volunteers has proven to me that if there is a will, there is way to achieve anything. These girls remind me to be fierce and motivated in all I do.
What have you learned from your current Miss Massachusetts, which you hope to carry with you if you were to win the title of Miss Massachusetts?
I truly love the way Alyssa Musto handles the “haters”. As someone works closely with children, bullying is still a issue today. Alyssa reminds those individuals that her confidence does not crumble to those who choose to not appreciate it. This is a lesson I teach currently and I hope to continue to teach to school students as a potential Miss Massachusetts!
As a title-holder, what is one of the single-most important messages, which you think you convey to your followers?
Determination. I specifically choose my talent song “Fight Song” due to this. I want to show my followers that pageantry and school are not a walk in the park. We all struggle, and we’ll all have our own struggles. Wether that struggle is with Chemistry or lifting a extra 10 lbs in your shoulder press, we all have times where we struggle mentally or physically. However in those times, that is where our strength shines. Through social media I post my workouts or inspirational quotes because I feel successes is driven from those who drip with determination.
If you were to win the title of Miss Massachusetts, what is the one thing which you would strive the hardest to accomplish?
I want to be the first Miss Massachusetts to skydive (with the sash on of course!) over Massachusetts.
Imagine you’re competing for Miss America, and your roommate has never visited Massachusetts; how would you describe your state to your roommate?
Our state has a little bit of everything. The beach, hiking trails, mountains, and the city. We have the loudest Red Sox fans, and the best “lobstah”!
If you could place three items in a time capsule, which represent the women of today, what would they be and why?
I would place my kickboxing gloves – in representation of how fierce women are in today’s society – My TI-84 plus calculator- in representation of women conquering the STEM fields (like myself)- and lastly the Disney Movie Moana – because I feel it portrays today’s women, and the determination we have to achieve our goals!
Because of media, many people tend to look at pageant with a very scrutinizing opinion; For you. personally, what have been some of the biggest benefits of being a part of the Miss America Organization. And how would you share the positive nature of pageants with others who may not be familiar?
Having been publicly ridiculed at before, as a titleholder with or without my crown on, I ensure individuals know that this is a scholastic organization focused on community service and scholarships. This organization isn’t like what is portrayed on TV, but a family who motivated each other and enjoys watching each other take turns succeeding in their best interests.
“Bravura” is an artistic word for exceptional; in your opinion, what makes you “bravura”?
I favorite feature about myself is my ability to be kickboxing at 9am with Red Seal Martial Arts Co, be in a lab for school at 10:30am, and occasionally in the studio dancing until 10pm at Erin Rae’s School of Dance!

What advice do you have for those who want to take part in pageants?
DO IT! You never know what you don’t try. This organization has so many opportunities that it is always worth it to try.
What words of thanks do you have for those who have helped to bring you to where you are today in the Miss Massachusetts Class of 2017?
Thank you, thank you for believing in me, supporting me, loving me, and pushing me. From the constant reminders and help from my Mom, Dad and Manger, to the amazing support and motivation boost from my amazing sponsors including Erin Rae’s School of dance, Armando Photo, and Red Seal Martial Arts Co. I cannot express how thankful I am to know the support I have from you in achieving my dreams.
