My Miss America Legacy – Morgan O’Brien Bocciolatt
We recently share with our readers Danielle Radeke and Marissa Goodwin's feature for our new segment, My Miss America Legacy. We are so excited to share about #MissAmericaLegacy story with our readers. 28-year-old Morgan O’Brien Bocciolatt, has been involved in the Miss America Organization as a contestant, volunteer and board member for ten years and going strong. I also had the opportunity to personally meet Morgan during a local pageant for the Miss New York Organization and I can see why her legacy is so strong!
Bocciolatt stated, “I competed in New York and was Miss Thousand Islands 2011 and my platform was In the Spotlight: Promoting the Performing Arts Among Youth.”
When it came to why she joined the Miss America Organization, she smiled before responding, “Competing in a pageant was not something I dreamed about throughout my childhood, and while it may have crossed my mind in secret, I would never had admitted it. In fact, I have a distinct memory of 17-year-old me saying, “I would never parade around a stage in a bikini!” Needless to say, my mom dragged me kicking and screaming to my first pageant, knowing it was in my best interest.I do remember that I was excited but extremely nervous, and worried about not winning and letting down my family and friends. All it took to eliminate that fear and apprehension was my very first pageant weekend when I caught the “pageant bug”. I never looked back!”
But that was not all; she went onto continue with, “truly, it was the Four Points that attracted me to MAO: scholarship, style, service, success. In addition, competing in Miss Thousand Islands provided a stage on which I could perform – I love the talent portion! Everything that sets Miss America a part from other systems is exactly what I love about it!”
When asked what her Miss America legacy would be, she quickly replied, “Providing the same experience to other young women! I absolutely would not be where I am today without the experiences afforded to me through my time competing in the Miss America Organization. As a volunteer and board member, I hope I can make a difference in the lives of young women who aspire to be the best version of themselves and want to make the world a better place.”
