The Miss America Crown: Success, Scholarship, Service & Style
A few days ago, our Editor in Chief has posed a question online, asking current and former Miss America Organization title-holders which of the four points of the crown meant the most to them. Over the years, we have come to know many young women who proudly represent their state through the MAO, and also proudly represent the four points of the Miss America crown - success, scholarship, service and style. First-hand, we have been able to see how the young girls & women who are part of the Miss America Organization personify the four points of the crown through their everyday actions. And it goes without out a doubt that many of these young women strive to represent the four points of the crown with their everyday actions and work through their platforms. We recently had the chance to catch up with a few title-holders and they shared which point of the crown means the most to them and why.
Cayla Kumar, Miss New York’s Outstanding Teen 2018, stated, “For me the most important point of the crown is “Success” because you can embodied success in the other three points of the crown!“
Emily Beale, who is the reigning Miss Blue Gold 2018, of the Miss Delaware Organization, stated, “Even though Success is the most ambiguous point of the crown, it’s the most important to me because it means you chase your ambitions and work your hardest to reach your dreams. Chasing success pushes me to be my best self, a great friend, and a fierce advocate for my platform. It may seem like a crazy dream to work rehabilitating big cats, or to climb to Mt. Everest Base Camp on a break from school, but the Miss America Organization has taught me to dream big and fight to reach those dreams! Thanks to MAO I’ll never stop pushing myself to be successful and set goals.”
Katelyn Cai, who is the current Miss Copper State Outstanding Teen, of the Miss Arizona Outstanding Teen organization wrote to us and said, “The point of the crown that means the most to me is success. I think that all of the other points — scholarship, service, and style — all culminate in achieving success. By being an excellent student and working hard on academics, you have success, whether that’s getting a good grade or using your intelligence to make your community better. Service and charity work is success in a different way.”
As you can see, each contestant truly works to embody, throughout their reign, what each of the four points of the Miss America crown represent; and each of them have one which holds the most value to them. Share with us which point of the crown means the most and why!
