The Road to Miss Arkansas – Logan Moore, Miss UAFS

The next contestant featured as part of our series, The Road to Miss Arkansas, is Logan Moore, Miss UAFS! Continue reading to learn more about Logan, her platform, and journey to the crown!

Please share with our readers your  platform along with a brief description of what it is.
My platform is Food For All which deals with food insecurities in Arkansas and what needs to be done to eliminate hunger.

How long have you competed in pageants? How do you think you’ve personally grown with all your prior pageant experience?
I competed in my first pageant in the 8th grade, it was my school pageant. My junior year of High School I was involved in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen system and have competed in the Miss America Organization since then.

In regards to your platform, why did you choose to go with this particular one?
In 2008, I went on a mission trip with my youth group to New York. While we were there we fed the homeless on the streets. The impact it made on my life was huge and when I returned to Arkansas I knew I needed to continue my service in some way.  I became involved with local food banks in my hometown and eventually college town to help eliminate hunger in Arkansas.

How has working alongside your platform made you into a stronger person?
I have become so much more grateful for all that I have.  Seeing someone struggle with such basic needs as providing food for their family will change your perception on life.

What have you learned from your current Miss Arkansas Savannah Skidmore as well as our Miss America Savvy Shields, which you hope to carry with you if you were to win the title of  Miss Arkansas?
Our Miss Arkansas and Miss America are both so humble and remember how blessed they are to hold the title that they have been honored with which is what I would want to carry with me as Miss Arkansas

As a title-holder, what is one of the single-most important messages, which you think you convey to your followers?
You never know what others may be struggling with. Whether it be meeting basic human needs such as nourishment or struggling with life issues which is why it is extremely important to be respectful and nice to others and grateful for all that we have.

If you were to win the title of Miss Arkansas, what is the one thing which you would strive the hardest to accomplish?
Arkansas is ranked 2nd nationally in families living in food insecure homes.  With this being such a huge issue in Arkansas, I would strive to educate Arkansans on the amount of people living with food insecurities and strive to eliminate hunger in Arkansas.

Imagine you’re competing for Miss America, and your roommate has never visited Arkansas; how would you describe your state to your roommate?
Arkansas has some of the most hospitable people you will ever meet. Arkansas is also nicknamed the Natural State and rightfully so, the scenery is something that is hard to find in most places but is in every part of Arkansas.

If you could place three items in a time capsule, which represent the women of today, what would they be and why?
A Bible, because there are so many amazing Godly women in this country who stand up for what they believe in no matter the judgment or ridicule thrown their way.  A ballot from our previous election, not only to represent the fact that women have the right to vote, but also the fact that we had a ballot with a woman on it.  These both are signs of how far we have grown and how much we are able to accomplish as women. A microphone to symbolize the fact that we as women have a voice and a message that is heard by all and we can truly make a difference.

Because of media, many people tend to look at pageant with a very scrutinizing opinion; For you. personally, what have been some of the biggest benefits of being a part of the Miss America Organization. And how would you share the positive nature of pageants with others who may not be familiar?
I have gained so many skills that I previously did not have.  I could hardly speak in front of my classmates at school and now I’m speaking in front of crowds of complete strangers.  I have interview skills that I only have due to the work that I have put in while competing in this organization.  I have also gained a confidence in myself and who I am that I previously did not have.

The name of this magazine is Bravura.  “Bravura” is an artistic word for exceptional; in your opinion, what makes you “bravura”?
My determination to reach my goals and my adaptability when things may not always go as I planned them to.

Where can fans follow you on social media?
FacebookTwitterInstagram.

What advice do you have for those who want to take part in pageants?
If this is something you truly love and want to take part in, don’t let anything get in your way.  This is such a rewarding organization and if you have to take a few risks to be involved, don’t let that stop you.

What words of thanks do you have for those who have helped to bring you to where you are today  – a member of the Miss Arkansas Class of 2017?
Without my supporters, friends, and family, I would not have made it anywhere in this organization.  The support and encouragement is what keeps me going when I have doubts or fears and I would be nothing without all of them.

What final words do you have for the readers of Bravura Magazine?
One of my favorite quotes is “Confidence is better than perfection because perfection is being the best but confidence is how you handle the worst”.  This is such an amazing quote to apply when competing in the Miss America Organization but also every day as well. I encourage everyone to live by it.
