Please share with our readers your platform along with a brief description of what it is.
My platform is Mentoring: I.O.U. (It’s Okay to be Unique). Encouraging others to be confident in themselves. I want to continue to be a positive role model for children and my peers by inspiring them to embrace their differences and use them as strength not a weakness.
How long have you competed in pageants? How do you think you’ve personally grown with all your prior pageant experience?
I started competing in pageants my freshman year of college, which was two years ago. I have gained self-confidence through pageantry. I have always been outgoing but public speaking was something that has always made me nervous. I am thankful that pageants have boosted my confidence and have eased my fear of speaking in front of a large audience.
In regards to your platform, why did you choose to go with this particular one?
When I was younger I lacked self-confidence. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to have a dance teacher who taught me that what made me different made me special. The impact she had on my life has inspired me to be a mentor to others and encourage them the way she encouraged me.
How has working alongside your platform made you into a stronger person?
Helping others embrace what makes them different has helped me appreciate the special qualities I possess also. I have had the privilege of working with many children and they have pushed me to be the best version of myself possible.
What have you learned from your current Miss Arkansas Savannah Skidmore as well as our Miss America Savvy Shields, which you hope to carry with you if you were to win the title of Miss Arkansas?
I have learned to never give up on my dreams and aspirations. Anything is possible when you put passion and hard work towards it. Life is about the people you meet, the lessons you learn along the way, and enjoying he ride.
As a title-holder, what is one of the single-most important messages, which you think you convey to your followers?
Always be yourself. It is so easy to get caught up in being like everyone else that we forget the wonderful attributes we each have to offer.
If you were to win the title of Miss Arkansas, what is the one thing which you would strive the hardest to accomplish?
I will strive to help others to recognize they are each extraordinary individuals and have special talents that make them unique.
Imagine you’re competing for Miss America, and your roommate has never visited Arkansas; how would you describe your state to your roommate?
You will need a comfortable pair of shoes that you can walk in. Arkansas has some of the most beautiful views and trails. Most of them are off the beaten path but well worth the trip.
If you could place three items in a time capsule, which represent the women of today, what would they be and why?
The three items I would put in a time capsule would be a gladiolus flower, a gavel and an aquamarine jewel. I chose a gladiolus flower because they represent strength and women of today overcome many adversities. I chose a gavel because women of today are brilliant leaders. I chose an aquamarine jewel because they represent courage.
Because of media, many people tend to look at pageant with a very scrutinizing opinion; For you. Personally, what have been some of the biggest benefits of being a part of the Miss America Organization? And how would you share the positive nature of pageants with others who may not be familiar?
Pageants are way more than just wearing a pretty dress and smiling on stage. Before competing in pageants, I had never been in an interview. I know without a doubt when it is time for me interview for a future job I will be at ease.
The name of this magazine is Bravura. “Bravura” is an artistic word for exceptional; in your opinion, what makes you “bravura”?
My passion for dance makes me exceptional. I have always loved performing and pageants have been a way for me to dance on a stage again. When I am dancing, I am truly myself.

What you put into it is what you will get out. Work hard, make friends and most importantly have fun!
What words of thanks do you have for those who have helped to bring you to where you are today – a member of the Miss Arkansas Class of 2017?
There has been so many people who have helped shaped who I am today. I first want to give thanks to God for giving me the ability to compete in pageants. I want to thank family and friends for always supporting me in everything I do.
