Fall to Winter Layering
Winter is almost here and so is the season of layers. Its that time of the year when you put together different kinds of clothes to give a cozy, bundled up look that seems effortless yet very fashionable. Well, expert layering is much easier said than done. And quite frankly, a lot of layering tactics sound good only in theory. Just pile on a lot of clothes and mix all the textures you want. In reality, non strategic layering can often result in a sloppy, bulky look.
So today, I’m going to take you through a Fall to Winter layering look and also give you a few pro tips on how you can rock layers.🙂
(Outfit: Sweater, Beanie & Scarf-Primark, Bag-Ted Baker, Boots-Timberland, Denims-Zara)
I would like to call this one, my Fall look as its perfect for those chilly days and keeps you toasty and warm enough.
For this look, start with a basic, lightweight top. I suggest something neutral, solid or striped. Then add another layer such as a soft cardigan or sweater in bold color or print to give your outfit more intrigue and depth.
In this case, the top and denims are the foundation to my outfit. You can always replace these with a dress or a jumpsuit. Anything that’s well fitted, sleeveless or full-sleeved, collared or turtle necks, button-ups or crop tops, works.
(Blazer: Zara, Sunglasses-Dolce & Gabbana)
For the middle layer, add a blazer or jacket to your outfit preferably in solid color.Try to have this layer as lightweight, clean, and close to the body as possible. This layer can be a bit less form-fitting. As long as it fits over your first layer without too much hassle, you’re good to go.
(Trench coat-Zara)
This trench will be your final, outer layer. It can be any outerwear staple you have – with something open in the front. Opt for a piece that stands out, such as an over sized coat, leather jacket, fur coat, poncho or cape. This layer can be easily taken off as and when required.
Make sure your outfit works as a whole, even once the outer layer is removed.
(Watch: Tissot)
Finish your look with some chic winter accessories like beanies and scarves.😀
Few Quick tips:
- Make sure you balance the lengths and proportions of each piece that you add to your outfit.
- Play with textures and prints.
- Keep the under layers more fitted for that slim silhouette.
- If you’re wearing mostly neutral tones, add a pop of color with a bright scarf or necklace.
- Complete your look with accessories like bracelets, earrings, rings, watches ,etc.
