My Favorite Way To Spend The Day: Baking cookies and then forcing myself to give them to people so I don’t eat them all. In my family, I’m known as the Cookie Monster.
The Most Influential Person in My Life: My dad has taught me what it means to have the heart of a servant. Through my father’s example of caring for his mother with Alzheimer’s disease, I have learned that when it comes to serving, the harder something is—whether it is physically or mentally—the bigger the reward when it comes to personal development.
As a survivor of bullying herself, Katelyn designed a program to help kids who were just like her. Not afraid to get real with her audience, she used her personal experiences and marketing knowledge to create Bullying S.T.O.P.S. Here seven years ago. Her curriculum has expanded from a youth presentation to a curriculum for teacher, administrator and parental use, and includes the link between child abuse, domestic violence and bullying. As a graduate of Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at ASU, Katelyn is at ease both behind and in front of the camera. She uses her journalism, public relations, graphic design and social media skills to collaborate with nonprofit organizations and government agencies to further her mission.
