Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is one of the most prestigious fashion events to take place in Manhattan. Time to break our your designer bags, those ever-aching stilettos, and whatever else your couture mind desires to style yourself in.

I’ve always known that Indian designers have a way of speaking through their stylistic minds, but it makes me feel even happier when I see such designers on the forefront of fashion and taking part in such internationally acclaimed events.

First on my list is designer Bibhu Mohaptra, who was born in the Indian state of Orissa. In 2996, he earned his Masters in Economics from Utah State University and then moved to New York City to enroll in the Fashion Institute of Technology. While still attending FIT, it was in 1997 that he was awarded Fashion Institute of Technology’s Critic’s Award for Best Evening Wear Designer of the Year. This year, you can catch Bibu Mohaptra showing off his new line on Tuesday, September 13th, from 1:30-3:30PM.

Next on my list are Falguni and Shane Peacock. They have unique styling and pay much attention to details. It’s been stated that, “the FSP brand carries the signature use of feathers, sequence and prints. Integral to the Peacock culture is the juxtaposition between contrasting elements: fragility and strength, tradition and modernity and fluidity and severity.” And get this, Kim Kardashian and Rihanna are just two names of the many that these talented designers have styled! This year you can catch their presentation on Friday, September 9th, at 9PM.

Finally we come to Naeem Khan, who’s always been making waves in the fashion industry! All I have to say about Khan is that his fan-base consists of celebrities such as Beyonce, Eva Longoria, Penelope Cruz, Carrie Underwood, Katherine Heigl, Debra Messing, Brooke Shields, Taylor Swift, Emily Blunt, Kim Cattrall, First Lady Michelle Obama and Queen Noor of Jordan; and if that wasn’t enough his amazing designs have been in feature films such as Sex & the City and Dreamgirls. This is one designer we’ve become very familiar with and I’ll cut straight to the point…you can catch his designs being showcased on Thursday, September 15th at 4PM.

This is just a small preview of three amazing designers who are going to rock Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. If you’ve got your tickets, you’re a lucky fashionista and if you haven’t…it’s time to break out those Gucci high-heel leather strap runway boots that you’ve got on lockdown in the corner of your bedroom closer, strut your stuff down 5th Avenue, and hope that you can “walk” your way into the fashion industry’s biggest event!
