Hair ‘O The Dog 2018

If you are looking for an event with music, movement and a whole lot of glamour, all in the name of charity, look no further than Hair ‘O Dog. Created in 1995, the event has grown tremendously both in its glamour and prominence, being voted best event in Philly. Each year Hair O’ Dog benefits a worthy charity, this year’s recipient being The Center for Autism. The event is always highly anticipated and a beloved Philly tradition.

This year the celebration drew inspiration from the Chinese New Year, creating the theme “Year O’ Dog” for its stylish soiree. The festivities kicked off at the Hilton Hotel at Penn’s Landing on January 20, 2018. Doors were opened at 8 p.m. for Very Important Pooches and Bottle Service attendees while general admission guest were allowed in at 10:00PM. Playing to the theme, Asian infused passed hors d’ oeuvres, sushi and dim sum stations were all prepared by the Hilton’s acclaimed culinary team.

Sports fans rejoiced for the Hair O’ The Underdog Pep-Rally for the Eagles, bringing with it raffles for championship game tickets, appearances by Alumni Jon Runyan,  performance from the Pep Band, Cheerleaders and so much more. The venue touted the highly anticipated silent auction tables, each lined with prizes ranging from celebrity memorabilia to vacation getaways. All of this could be enjoyed alongside the open bar made available during the whole course of the evening.

“I saw the ad on I-95. We were in town and I told my friends it looked like fun so went online and purchased the tickets” stated one party guest when explaining how she roped her friends into venturing forward to the charity event. The ladies were not disappointed when greeted by all the evening had to offer. First time attendees can expect nothing but the best in culinary enjoyment and performance appeal, which keeps repeat guests coming back year after year.

“It’s like an adult prom” proclaimed a veteran attendee, going on his fifth year of attending the event. Though reminiscing on his prom years, guests planning to participate in this yearly event should be sure to dress their best as attendees come clad in beautiful dresses and elegant suiting for the evening. Hair O’ Dog is considered the longest running black-tie affair in the country so guests stay stylish as they strut their stuff for the fun filled night.

Not only were the best dressed guests around living it up on the dance floor but the true creators of the infectious energy of the night can be attributed to the musical act of the evening, Cash Cash. Playing some top rated hits with a display of lights and visuals on monitors atop the stage, the technology aided in creating the exceptional experience for party goers. The performance was nothing short of spectacular as confetti canons accompanied the booming beats of the music while the duo kept the audience energized with their catchy tunes. Injecting more of theme of the evening into the dance floor, spectators were greeted with a dragon and sparkler display paraded across the room as they continued to enjoy the music of the night. The festivities continued at 12:30AM with an after party at Gardendale Social Club. Admission was complimentary for all VIP and Top Dog Bottle Service ticket holders while other party-goers received reduced admission.

Celebrating its twenty-four years of partying in the city of brotherly love and giving back to charity, it was really an evening for the books. Being one of the best nights of the year, the event leaves a lasting impact on numerous charities and the local community. Anticipation for next year’s event is already looming.
