SOHO Fashion Week Season 2: A Model’s Perspective

Fashion Week! Fashion Week! Fashion Week!

That is what's running through our brains right now, not the fact that the holidays are right around the corner! This weekend we linked up with SOHO Fashion Week, as their second season hit the streets of Manhattan! And trust us when we say it was nothing less than amazing. There was a packed venue, paparazzi were snapping away as if there was no tomorrow, and the models lit up the runway as they strut the styles of all the designers who showcased!

We had the opportunity to catch up with some of the models who walked in Season 2 of SOHO Fashion Week to get their take on the event!

22 year old model, Alyssa Sansone, drove up from Central Jersey. And she was excited as could be, posting on Facebook that she’s ready to take on SOHO Fashion Week!

We spoke to Alyssa, and she said, “this was my first time walking for SOHOFW! I’ve never met such an amazing, caring, and loving team like i did this past weekend. I walked for Batista Collection, Rose Berger, and Tisha Ormsby. The best part of the day was on the runway showing of the designers fashions and have their visions come to real life.”

We caught up with the extremely adorable Zoe Knibb, who is a 7 year old model from Long Island! She was excited to share with us that she has, “walked in several fashion shows. This is my second time walking for Soho Fashion week. I enjoyed it very much. I walked for all the kid designers in both shows. I loved all my outfits because they fit well and were beautiful.” She also went onto say that one of her favorite parts was, “meeting new people and having fun backstage.”

And that truly is one of the best parts I have seen about the children who are cast for SOHO Fashion Week — they remain as kids! Sure, they OWN the runway when they are walking, but as soon as they get backstage, they grab their crayons, coloring books, and are running around the place!

27 year old, John Grasso, from Central Jersey was also geared up about Season 2 of SOHO Fashion Week! And we loved his excitement! He said, “SOHO Fashion Week was SO HOT! It was such a blast and a fun time with positive and beautiful people and fire designs. This was not my first fashion show but it was definitely the most well organized. Lamont and Jeana directed with style and kept the energy backstage high while staying in time. It was like a party, DJ Luna had the dance beats bumping and we were all busting out moves the whole night while getting ready to walk.”

John has the opportunity to walk for three different designers. He stated that designer, “Dez Nolan featured his artistic, colorful urban designs. Don Miller brought us a cool, comfortable, preppy look. And the team at Double Red showcased a serious, masculine line with various camouflage styles from head to toe with those camo-boots and sneakers being a huge hit.  SOHO Fashion Week was an awesome experience, everyone involved really made it an unforgettable fun time. I can’t wait to see what the next season brings!

Sean Conyers, a 26 year old from Atlantic City/New York City walked for the second time during SOHO Fashion Week. He happily shared, “I love walking (for) the company; between the producers, cast, and countless models who have become my friends cast buddies, etc, combined with opportunities I received for showcasing, my overall experiences have been nothing short of amazing!”

Sean also walked for a few designers, some of them being Don Miller, Double Red, and So Suav Designs. He also stated that, “gaining a “family” has to be the best part of SOHO Fashion Week,” and that, “modeling is fun, however the relationships gained throughout are priceless!” He also mentioned that two of his favorite parts about the day were the, “impromptu dance party & 75+ person mannequin-challenge!”

Yes, that is right! We did complete a mannequin-challenge…and it’s LIVE now! Let’s try to break the Internet with this one!

17 year old Karina DeCasablanca, of Ventnor City, NJ, was excited to be back for Season 2 of SOHO Fashion Week! “I loved it!,” she exclaimed, “I had an extremely great time with the models, designers, make up artists, and producers. Everyone is so friendly and very easy to get along with. I also like how everything is organized and easy to assimilate to.” Here’s are some pictures of Karina on the runway!

Karina said she walked for, “Rose Berger, Tisha Ormsby, Rock-Paper-Denim, and Batista Collection,” and that the best part of being at SOHO Fashion week was being backstage, “because that’s where we all laugh and dance and have a good time!”

And not all of our models were also local! We caught up with 26 year old, Mel. B, from Baltimore Maryland. Mel said that, “I have been modeling since 2010 but, my this was my first time walking for SOHO Fashion Week.” Mel also stated that, “I had a blast everyone was welcoming and friendly. The overall production of show was excited very well, without any problems or hiccups. All the models were friendly, overall and great production!.”

Mel walked for a few designers, who were DIY -Dez Nolan, Double Red, and Don Miler. And Mel thought that the best part about being at SOHO Fashion Week was, “…meeting new people and networking!” Check out this pic of Mel on the runway!
