The Road to Miss New Jersey – Miss Northern Lakes – Olivia Suarez

As we continue our “Road to Miss New Jersey” series, our next contestant is Miss Northern Lakes, Olivia Suarez.

Please tell us why you chose to compete for your local county’s title?
I choose to compete, as it just feels natural to perform and have the opportunity to be rewarded with scholarships. I have been competing with many of these girls over the years and it has been a pleasure to do so. Each year brings laughter, new memories and a million more photos to add to our sparkly gallery of pageantry items. Besides bringing those each passing year new girls or “Newbies” are added into the mix, which allows the veterans and new girls to help and mentor one another through the process. No matter if you have competed every single year or if this is your first, everyone is warm and welcoming to each other.

What do you plan to accomplish if you were to win the title of Miss NJ 2016?
I anticipate traveling throughout the state promoting volunteerism in any form. It doesn’t matter what age you are or what you are doing; if you are aiding in someone else’s life and being able to provide a positive impact, then you have left your mark. “We should aspire to inspire before we expire” -Eugene Bell Jr.

Share with our readers a bit more about you platform and why you picked this particular one.
I didn’t have to think long about my platform as Volunteering is something that I have been doing since the early age of four. It was instilled in me to give back to others and no matter where I am, putting someone else first before the needs of my own makes me feel so much better. I feel it is everyone’s civic duty to become engaged in their community and world around them. Don’t tune out the world, let others in and see the beauty it has to offer and the kindness of others that is in everyone.

“Bravura” is an artistic word for exceptional; in your own words, tell us what makes you ‘bravura’!
I am “Bravura” because I am Eclectic, Versatile, Opinionated and Limitless; putting the words together as an acronym spells EVOL – like evolving. I am constantly evolving into a person that is not only well rounded with studies but also globally. Civically engaged within my own community and on my travels around the world, has given me a broad view of other cultures. I left pieces of me in the places I’ve been, hoping to one-day return again. Trying to make a positive change wherever you go makes for good stories and exceptional friends to share them with.
