Evgenia Luzhina-Salazar Returns to Couture Fashion Week New York with Dramatic Bridal Designs

Award-winning fashion and costume designer and artist Evgenia Luzhina-Salazar will make her second appearance at Couture Fashion Week in New York City at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday September 16, 2012 with the presentation of her latest bridal collection. The fashion show will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the world-famous Waldorf Astoria hotel on New York’s Park Avenue.

A native of Moscow, Evgenia Luzhina-Salazar received a B.A. in Fine Art and Design from Moscow Art College in 1980. She went on to serve as Resident Set and Costume Designer for the Moscow Chamber Forms Theater for five years. While there, she designed numerous productions which were staged in Los Angeles and Moscow. In 1991, Luzhina-Salazar moved to the United States where she has continued her career in art and theatrical set and costume design.

She has been a costume designer for the past 30 years, working for different theaters in Russia and the United States, and has created costumes for 52 plays. Over the past six years she has produced her own fashion show event entitled “Passion Runway” which has been presented in Washington DC at the Russian Embassy, the Sylvan Theater Stage at the Washington Monument, the First Annual Model Contest, and the Officer’s Club, as well as in Virginia at the Synectic Theater and in Chicago at the Convention Center.

Her most recent accolade was Maryland Fashion Awards 2012 – Winner High Fashion Designer. She is also a winner of the Helen Hayes Award 2010: Outstanding Production for Youth, and was nominated for the National Award in Public Relations “Silver Archer”. She recently participated in the 7th Annual Maryland Fashion Week Showcase in August 2011 as well as in Couture Fashion Week’s Spring 2012 season at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. Her designs have received critical acclaim in both local and national newspapers, on radio and television.

Evgenia Luzhina-Salazar’s fashion show at Couture Fashion Week on September 16, 2012 will include accessories by Sharon Neal and Davis Lawrence of Boho Designs (nominated as Best Accessories designers at the 2012 Maryland Fashion Awards), as well as a performance by renowned Russian soprano Olga Orlovskaya. Music will be composed by award-winning jazz-fusion guitarist Serge Khrichenko.
