Check-In Time

Going on vacation, whether it’s with the kids, your boys, or a weekend-getaway with the girls, the most important part of any trip is the hotel. It’s the place where we’ll wine & dine, and rest our feet after a long night of dancing at the local clubs or hiking in the rainforest trails. I love to travel, but I sure as heck can’t afford some of these amazing ‘heavens on Earth,’ that I’m about to share with you!

This was the summer of all summers! The weather was hot, the oceans were rockin’ with good surf waves, and the beaches were loaded with cute, single guys (what else did you expect me to say?!).

I made a list of my Top 10 hotels from around the world and have started my international getaway! You better check-in before it gets to late!

1 – The Villa Renaissance (Turks & Caicos)
A typical room (1 King bed, premium bedding, separate sitting area, kitchen, clock radio [wow, I’ve always wanted that in my room, haha], and much more) runs on the average of $426 per night. This hotel was inspired by the Grand Villas of the Italian and French Riviera, Villa Renaissance is a magnificent beach front Retreat located directly on internationally renowned Grace Bay resort in the Turks and Caicos Islands – talk about Heaven on Earth! This hotel has 28 luxurious one, two and three bedroom beachfront villas, as well as, eight charming and equally luxuriously appointed poolside cottages, Villa Renaissance offers its relaxed elegance in the Caribbean resort at surprisingly accessible rates – well if you call $400+ a night ‘accessible’ then more power to you!

2 – JW Marriot (Mumbai, India)

Compared to the Caribbean, this Mumbai-based hotel runs on an average of $242 a night – but it’s still worth every penny! They’ve got everything from indoor and outdoor pools to even a special couples area for a spa treatment! The JW Marriott Hotel Mumbai stands proud directly on Juhu beach close to the Mumbai Airport. And besides their multi-cuisine fine dining restaurants, it’s always fun to dance the night away in their own private nightclub, Enigma, where the best of Bollywood is always known to make their faces shown!

3 – Samaya Seminyak (Bali, Indonesia)

Hold your breath – this hotel is an average $475 a night – yowzers! Now that you’ve calmed yourself down, the word “Samaya” is in Sanskrit, a word which refers to the inner sanctum of well being, a reflection of peace and tranquility where one finds refuge, a message conveying ‘I am with You’. Just to give you a quick tease, the Breeze Beachfront restaurant overlooking Seminyak Beach offers Euro – American cuisine and exotic local dishes for breakfast, lunch and romantic sunset and dinner. The beach front setting, great sunset views and the sound of waves make this restaurant one of Bali’s most romantic place to dine – can anything sound more romantic than this?!

4 – Hotel Grande Bretagne (Athens, Greece)

At $404 a night, this hotel is a 19th-century palace facing the main Syntagma Square and adjacent to the Parliament Building. Set in a palace built in 1862, locals call the Hotel Grande Bretagne the ‘Royal Box’. Guests enter through rotating doors into a lobby with Corinthian columns, Persian carpets and neobaroque-style furniture. With a fine taste of Greek culture, and an amazing place to call home for a week, there’s no other suggestion I’d give than the Grande Bretagne!

5 – Casa Velas Boutique Hotel All Inclusive (Puerto Vallarta, Mexico)

Puerto Vallarta is one of the most gorgeous places to visit in Mexico – there’s beaches, nightlife, and jungles to visit too – everything is located in this Mexican heaven! The Casa Velas is an amazing hotel; it’s all-inclusive (though adults only), and is located in a tranquil, tropical oasis that combines award-winning service and hospitality with the pleasures of a romantic and intimate atmosphere. Nestled away on the beautiful Marina Vallarta golf course, Casa Velas invites you to enjoy the comforting sounds of nature as you relax in paradise. Every night you can watch the breathtaking sunsets on Banderas Bay, gorgeous coastal scenery, private beaches, and the spirit of an intimate resort where relaxation is celebrated. Rooms run at an average of $444 a night, but it’s surely worth it for you and that “special someone.”

6 – Trump International Hotel & Tower New York (New York, New York)
At a whooping $485 a night, the Trump International Hotel is the place to be if you’re of the elite, social class! This hotel stands as an icon delivering the highest level of service, style, and exclusivity. The impressive 52 story glass tower is located at the juncture of Central Park, Columbus Circle, and Broadway. Inside, impeccable style, spectacular service, and a sense of intrigue define the experience. Guests enjoy a higher level of luxury, with unrivaled hospitality and detail oriented amenities, including a personal Attaché service exclusive to Trump. There are 167 rooms and suites, which have custom designed furnishings, fully equipped kitchens, and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing unparalleled views of Central Park and the City. And did I fail to mention that their 5-star restaurant, Jean-Georges, features contemporary cuisine, and is the winner of the 2009 James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Restaurant. I think I rest my case on this hotel!

7 – Ac Palacio Del Retiro (Madrid, Spain)

Once again, we come across an exquisite palace that has now become one of the most popular hotels – Ac Palacio Del Retiro is an average $312 a night. It was built as a palace in 1908 and converted into a hotel in 2004; AC Palacio Del Retiro is a national heritage site, with original sweeping marble staircases and stained-glass windows. The hotel is situated in the center of the City so easily accessible by car, taxi, etc. For food we have a great choice of modern Mediterranean cuisine in a relaxed setting at the restaurant Indice, if you want a break from true Spanish delicacies.

8 – Hotel Londra Palace (Venice, Italy)

At $500 a night, the Hotel Londra Palace in Venice, Italy is my dream spot! The Hotel Londra Palace looks onto the splendid St.Mark’s Basin, a few steps away from the Doges’ Palace and the Bridge of Sights. This hotel is privileged to have no fewer than a hundred windows on the lagoon of Venice that enable guests to enjoy a view that goes from the Salute Basilica to the island of Giudecca and the various islands dotted about in this part of the lagoon: San Giorgio Maggiore, San Servolo, San Lazzaro degli Armeni and Lido. And whenever you’re in the mood, you can just walk out of your hotel to the water and hop on a gondola ride too!

9 – The Langham Hotel (Melbourne, Australia)
At $346 a night, Melbourne’s Langham Hotel on the banks of the Yarra River stands within easy reach of the city’s business fashion and shopping districts, sports venues, parks and gardens, al-fresco restaurants, cafés and nightlife – talk about being in the center of it all! Located in the center of Melbourne’s art precinct, the Langham is close to the Arts Centre and National Art Gallery of Victoria, and only a kilometer from the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Center, Crown Casino, aquarium, cricket ground and Rod Laver tennis arena. Melbourne International Airport lies 22 kilometers from the hotel.

10 – Skylofts at MGM Grand (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Yes, we couldn’t have a Top Hotel list if we didn’t include our very own Sin City – Las Vegas! With over 200 hotels in this city, the most expensive one is, without a doubt, The Skylofts at the MGM Grand Hotel. Rooms at this hotel are an average $500 a night – so unless you’re a high roller, I won’t be seeing you there 😉 These suites are what every non-millionaire New Yorker dreams of: a 1,400 to 6,000 sq ft loft with 24-foot floor-to-ceiling windows and fun gadgets (like a Bang & Olufsen sound system, an espresso machine, and a laptop). These suites even thought to include spa amenities like an “immersion chamber” steam and rain shower. If all that fails to impress, maybe getting picked up by a ’62 Maybach limo at the airport will.

So ladies and gentlemen – there you have it – the best of the best, from the hotel perspective! I told you I had some high-class taste, let’s hope you do to! This is Miss Dimple leaving you breathless and excited to book your next vacation!
